Constructing a Table - STEAM

 

Hi bloggers! The pictures above are the results of our activity today. The task was to build a sturdy table. We tested how sturdy our table was by seeing how many books it could withstand. We had 10 sheets of newspaper and a metre of cellotape to work with. as you can see in the pictures above, our table was able to withstand one book. I think our team could have worked a little bit better together if we were all focused. I also think that we could have come up with better ideas for the overall design, but it worked out fine. we actually didn't have enough cellotape, and I think if we had more resources we could have done better. Art - Matariki Stars

Hi bloggers! Today I finished off my Matariki stars art. (put it in a frame and trimmed the edges.),

 so here is the final result! 

If you'd like to try this yourself, follow the instructions below.

1. grab a piece of paper.

2. draw out a mountain range and the Matariki stars. (backward!)

3. once you're happy with the design, copy it onto a piece of foam. 

4. using a roller, roll ink onto the foam.

5. grab a piece of card

6. flip your foam around and press the ink side onto the card.

7. take the used foam off and throw it out.

8. cut out a frame using another piece of card and stick it onto the inked card using a gluestick.

9. DONE!

I really liked this activity, I think they all turned out really pretty!

Science Experiments - Eggs

Today we did a science experiment where you get an egg, and you have to try your best to protect it. we were provided with three sheets of paper, sellotape, string, and card. once we were done designing the protection fr the egg, our teacher dropped it from the top of a staircase. our egg didn't survive, sadly. Te Tiriti o Waitangi - Inquiry

For Inquiry this week, we have been doing research on The Treaty of Waitangi. I did this on Canva. The Canva that I did has the map of the route they took (it isn't the real route, because I couldn't find any info about the route that they actually took.) and it has information about the Treaty Of Waitangi, when the English left and arrived, which problems they had on the ship and when they got to New Zealand, and some more.  Have you ever done research on the Treaty of Waitangi?  How did it go? Lego Man Drawing!

 Hello Bloggers! Another part of our learning this week was drawing. We got templates of lego men figures on paper, and our task was to colour and draw on them to make them look like ourselves. On mine, I had brown hair, (my hair colour) and a smile, because I often feel quite happy. I also wore a stripy t-shirt with a denim jacket to cover it. once we completed that task, we could move onto another clean template, and attempt to draw our new principal, Mrs. Fowler. This was so much fun, and I definitely recommend it. unfortunately, I do not have a photo of my drawing, because it's still at school. Have you ever drawn on a template before?
